Reliving '96: Capturing the Essence of the Chicago Bulls' Vintage Bootleg Tees

Reliving '96: Capturing the Essence of the Chicago Bulls' Vintage Bootleg Tees

The 1996 NBA season was a time when the Chicago Bulls reigned supreme. Led by the iconic trio of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman, they clinched their fourth championship, being coached by the Zen Master himself, Phil Jackson. Inspired by the vintage bootleg tees of that era that flooded the streets, we wanted to embody that same vibe and give that nostalgic feel.

Color Matching:

We created a moodboard that helped us get an idea of the colors that were screen printed on these tees. Disecting the colors from countless vintage bootleg tees, the hue had to be just right to capture that era. Countless revisions, miniscule adjustments, and color matching, we finally locked in on the perfect tones.

Research and Balance:

Digging through the archives, watching endless game highlights and post game interviews to only catch that perfect still to use for the tee. It's all about the perfect balance between homage and innovation, blending classic aesthetics with a visually pleasing twist. After the layout was found, it was time to make another instant classic.

It's tricky trying to find that sweet spot between vintage vibes and modern streetwear. Keeping the tees to feel like it's been thrifted from the bins, or bought off the back was tough.

When I wear this Vintage Bootleg 1996 Chicago Bulls tee, I imagine the intro music that is LEGENDARY. The game was already over by the introduction itself.
